ASTM A672 B60 Class 12 Material Performance
ASTM A672 Grade B60 is manufactured from plain carbon, killed pressure-vessel steel corresponding to ASTM A515 Grade 60. The material provides a minimum yield strength of 220 MPa and tensile strength of 415–550 MPa. Under ASTM A672, Grade identifies the pressure-vessel plate used, while Class 12 specifies the manufacturing and inspection condition: no post-weld heat treatment, full-length radiographic examination and pressure testing. The specification covers electric-fusion-welded pipe with outside diameters of 400 mm and above, making the 762 mm configuration suitable for its dimensional scope. LSAW production can be used for large-diameter pipe, with forming, weld inspection and pressure testing controlled according to the applicable specification and project requirements.

Pipe Protection
Pipe-end protection is advisable in case the pipe-ends are bevelled at the pipe manufacturer. In the case of overseas transport, there is an especially increased risk of damaged pipe-ends. This is caused by extra handling procedures in ports and shifting of the pipes onboard vessels.
In addition to end caps or protective rings, external wrapping with protective cloth can be applied along the pipe body. This wrapping helps to safeguard the coating surface from scratches, moisture, and contamination during long-distance transportation or prolonged outdoor storage. Especially for coated or painted pipes, the additional protective cloth layer significantly reduces the risk of mechanical damage, UV exposure, and corrosion initiation, ensuring the pipes arrive at the destination in optimal condition.
