ASTM A672 C70 Class 22 Material Performance
ASTM A672 Grade C70 is produced from ASTM A516/A516M Grade 70, a killed, fine-grain pressure-vessel steel. It provides a minimum yield strength of 260 MPa and tensile strength of 485–620 MPa, with a minimum elongation of 21%. Class 22 requires the finished pipe to be stress relieved, radiographically examined and pressure tested. The A672 specification covers electric-fusion-welded steel pipe manufactured from pressure-vessel-quality plate for high-pressure service at moderate temperatures. LSAW production is suitable for large-diameter applications, with weld inspection and hydrostatic testing performed according to the applicable specification and project requirements.

Pipe Protection
Pipe-end protection is advisable in case the pipe-ends are bevelled at the pipe manufacturer. In the case of overseas transport, there is an especially increased risk of damaged pipe-ends. This is caused by extra handling procedures in ports and shifting of the pipes onboard vessels.
In addition to end caps or protective rings, external wrapping with protective cloth can be applied along the pipe body. This wrapping helps to safeguard the coating surface from scratches, moisture, and contamination during long-distance transportation or prolonged outdoor storage. Especially for coated or painted pipes, the additional protective cloth layer significantly reduces the risk of mechanical damage, UV exposure, and corrosion initiation, ensuring the pipes arrive at the destination in optimal condition.
