L360M corresponds to a minimum yield strength of 360 MPa, with tensile strength ranging from 460–600 MPa. As a thermomechanically rolled grade, it offers refined grain structure and improved toughness compared to normalized steels. Under PSL2 requirements, impact testing is mandatory, typically achieving Charpy V-notch values ≥40 J at 0°C or lower, depending on project specification. Chemical composition is tightly controlled, with carbon generally ≤0.20%, manganese up to 1.60%, and strict limits on P and S to ensure weldability and fracture resistance.

At Huayang, L360M plates are formed using JCOE technology, followed by double-sided submerged arc welding. Each pipe undergoes 100% ultrasonic testing, X-ray inspection of weld seams, and hydrostatic pressure testing. Dimensional tolerances are strictly managed to meet oil pipeline installation standards, ensuring consistent performance in long-distance onshore transmission projects.
