L245 Material and Piling Performance
L245 is a pipeline steel grade with a minimum yield strength of 245 MPa, offering a balanced combination of strength, ductility, and weldability. It is also included in Huayang's available GB/T 9711 steel grade range. For a 914 mm foundation pile, the large outside diameter provides substantial cross-sectional area and bending resistance, while the selected wall thickness should be determined from axial load, bending, soil conditions, pile length, and design requirements rather than assumed from diameter alone. Huayang manufactures large-diameter LSAW pipe using longitudinal submerged arc welding and can provide hydrostatic testing, weld inspection, dimensional inspection, mechanical testing, and chemical analysis. Its LSAW range extends to 50 mm wall thickness, supporting heavy-duty engineering applications such as piling and structural construction.

Pipe Protection
Pipe-end protection is advisable in case the pipe-ends are bevelled at the pipe manufacturer. In the case of overseas transport, there is an especially increased risk of damaged pipe-ends. This is caused by extra handling procedures in ports and shifting of the pipes onboard vessels.
In addition to end caps or protective rings, external wrapping with protective cloth can be applied along the pipe body. This wrapping helps to safeguard the coating surface from scratches, moisture, and contamination during long-distance transportation or prolonged outdoor storage. Especially for coated or painted pipes, the additional protective cloth layer significantly reduces the risk of mechanical damage, UV exposure, and corrosion initiation, ensuring the pipes arrive at the destination in optimal condition.
