L245ME Material Performance
L245ME is an ISO 3183 PSL2 pipeline steel grade corresponding to the BME strength level. For pipe wall thickness up to 25 mm, ISO 3183 specifies a minimum yield strength of 245 MPa and tensile strength of 415–655 MPa, with a maximum yield-to-tensile ratio of 0.85. The M designation indicates thermomechanically controlled material, supporting a refined microstructure and balanced strength and toughness. PSL2 also imposes tighter requirements for chemical composition, mechanical properties, impact toughness and testing than PSL1. Huayang manufactures LSAW pipe through controlled forming and double-sided submerged arc welding, with ultrasonic, radiographic and hydrostatic testing available according to project requirements.

Pipe Protection
Pipe-end protection is advisable in case the pipe-ends are bevelled at the pipe manufacturer. In the case of overseas transport, there is an especially increased risk of damaged pipe-ends. This is caused by extra handling procedures in ports and shifting of the pipes onboard vessels.
In addition to end caps or protective rings, external wrapping with protective cloth can be applied along the pipe body. This wrapping helps to safeguard the coating surface from scratches, moisture, and contamination during long-distance transportation or prolonged outdoor storage. Especially for coated or painted pipes, the additional protective cloth layer significantly reduces the risk of mechanical damage, UV exposure, and corrosion initiation, ensuring the pipes arrive at the destination in optimal condition.
