Historical Awakening: Golden Bangladesh Forged in Blood and Fire
On March 26, 1971, the descendants of the "Golden Bangladesh" described by the poet Tagore, with "Our Golden Bangladesh" as the national anthem, launched an independence war against Pakistani rule. Leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman announced in Dhaka that "this struggle is for our liberation" and was immediately imprisoned in West Pakistan Jail.
